NAME: Cessily Kincaid
ALIAS: Mercury POWER(S): Body made of metal TEAM(S): X-Men, New X-Men (Hellions), student at Xavier Institute
Cessily’s body is made of a non-toxic, malleable metal that resembles mercury. She can reshape or solidify her body at will though she has a harder time controlling it if it is separated from her body. Her form also allows her to cling to walls and expand/stretch and gives her an unknown level of super-strength. Because her body is completely made of metal, Cessily doesn’t need to eat or drink, but does so because it makes her feel more human.
Cessily was in high school when her powers manifested. One day, she woke up and her body had begun transforming into a malleable metal substance. Still unfamiliar with controlling it, Cessily ended up in a puddle on her bathroom floor where her parents found her. The Kincaids were horrified by and ashamed of their daughter’s ability and mutant status and they hid her away from public eye before sending her to Xavier’s Institute.
At the Institute, Cessily became a member of the Hellions Squad and was mentored by Emma Frost. She tends to be a mediator between her own team members and her squad and others, wanting them to stick together instead of fight each other. Cessily kept her powers after M-Day and was promoted to X-Man status as a member of the student team. At one point, Cessily was abducted by the Facility (who created X-23) and a piece of her body was used to make an impenetrable hide on Predator X, a creature created to find and kill mutants. She and the other New X-Men (including Surge, Elixir, X-23, Dust, Pixie, Prodigy, Santo, Anole, and the rest of their crowd) continue to be featured as X-Men.
